As if you haven’t seen enough Top 10 of 2011 lists lately, here’s a quick recap of news and events that made 2011 extra-special for the Frog Family. All we can say is “What a year!” Thanks for being part of it!
1. New UndercoverTourist.com Website & Leap’s Crowd Calendar Unveiled
The new UndercoverTourist.com was introduced mid-November with park hours on the home page, new Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort theme park pages and current wait times on the attraction pages. (Read more about it here.) Then just two weeks later, Leap unveiled his Crowd Calendar which gives expected crowd levels, recommended parks and 6 easy steps to Skip the Lines. (Here’s some helpful information about Leap’s Crowd Calendar.)
2. Frog Family Begins Fun Give-Away Contests
The Frog Family loves a good contest…we also love giving stuff away! So the introduction of t-shirt, hat and app giveaway contests was a highlight of our year. We have LOTS more coming in this department, so stay tuned on Facebook and Twitter.
3. Mommy Frog Attends Taping of Ellen DeGeneres Show
While Leap and the kids spent the day at Islands of Adventure, Mommy Frog was lucky enough to attend the annual taping of the Ellen DeGeneres Show at Universal Orlando Resort. From dancing during commercial breaks to screaming like a teenager every time Ellen walked onto the stage, it was an experience she won’t soon forget.
4. Undercover Tourist Releases FREE Wait Times App for Universal Orlando Resort
In early 2011, Undercover Tourist released a free wait times app for Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Along with park hours and recommended parks using our “Traffic Light System,” this app gives you accurate wait times for all your favorite rides. Download it now!
5. Frog Family Celebrates Magic Kingdom’s 40th Anniversary
On Oct. 1, 2011, the Frog Family arrived at Magic Kingdom 2 hours before rope drop and we immediately realized it was going to be quite a celebration. We’re very lucky we got to take part in this memorable occasion. (Take a look at pictures from Magic Kingdom’s 40th Anniverary here.)
6. Disney World Ride Videos App Released for Android
Disney World Ride Videos App by Undercover Tourist was introduced for Android in September 2011. Always looking for ways to make his videos from the parks even more accessible, Tad helped develop this app that puts High-Definition, Point-of-View Disney videos right in the palm of your hand.
7. Frog Family Conquers 1st Day of Star Wars Weekends
Wanting to capture all the action of the first day of Star Wars Weekends on May 20, 2011, we saved our spot on Hollywood Boulevard THREE HOURS in advance. The payoff? A front row view of the Character Processional…check out the video! (Click here to look at pictures from Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.)
8. Mommy Frog Sneaks Off to Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival
What was better than attending the first day of the 2011 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival? Going with a few girlfriends while the kiddos were in school. It was beautiful! (Check out the photos.)
9. Frog Family Goes Trick-or-Treating at Magic Kingdom During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
The Frog Family attended the first night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on Sept. 13, 2011. Like many of you, this is hands-down our favorite special event at Walt Disney World. (Take a look at our pictures from the party.)
10. Frog Family Gets to Know the “Other Orlando”
This year the Frog Family we made a point to take a few day (and night) trips to some smaller attractions. Two of our favorites were our day at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and our evening at Arabian Nights Dinner Show. Both were well worth it!
Thanks for hopping along with us in 2011!
