Universal Orlando Releases Spider-Man, Despicable Me Details & LOTS More

by FrogBlog on January 25, 2012 1

This morning, Universal Orlando Resort released details about its all-new Despicable Me attraction, announced the first ever daily parade and much more. Here's what we found out...

Blue Man Group: Beginning in February, Blue Man Group will feature an all-new show combining music, comedy, waves of paint, fun new experiences and lighting effects. It promises to have guests jumping to their feet and will play off the world's obsession with cutting edge technology.

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man: Brand-new Spider-Man ride will be unveiled in March and will include new experiences, highest level of digital animation available, all-new sets, brand new audio special effects, 4K digital Hi-Def. "You will be able to count the stitches in Spider-Man's glove" is how UOR described it. Guests will get to spend more time in each scene with their favorite characters. Cameo by legendary comic book icon Stan Lee: they are not telling where you will find him, you'll have to see for yourself.

Universal Super Star Parade: Beginning this Spring...Despicable Me, SpongeBob Squarepants, Dora and Diego, and Hop characters are all part of the what's billed as an "immersive moving show." The parade will make stops along the way and prior to the parade the characters will interact with guests.

Universal Cinematic Spectacular: Celebrating 100 years of iconic Universal pictures, this nighttime show is projected on waterfall screens and will feature pyrotechnics, 100-foot tall fountains, music and more. Who will narrate? Morgan Freeman. The show will surround the lagoon and will be able to be scene from all over the park. It will be performed nightly through the summer, then on select nights through the fall.

Despicable Me: What was known about the replacement for Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast was that it would be based on Despicable Me. Now we know that this new ride will be called Despicable Me - Minion Mayhem. It is scheduled to open this summer.

Hollywood Drive In Golf Course: Opening in February. 36 holes of golf (18 have a "haunted" theme and the other 18 have a "sci-fi" theme).

Still no news on what will replace JAWS.
