What’s Happening This Weekend…
Mardi Gras @ Universal Studios
It’s Mardi Gras this Friday and Saturday at Universal Studios! Plain White T’s will perform on the Universal Music Plaza Stage at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 30; Prince Royce follows on Saturday, March 31 at 9:30 p.m. The Mardi Gras Parade, which begins next to Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show theater, kicks off at 8 p.m. on Friday night and at 9 p.m. on Saturday night. A great place to spend the afternoon and early evening is The French Quarter Courtyard where you can enjoy authentic Cajun food and music by Soul Project. Mardi Gras at Universal Studios is included with regular theme park admission.

Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival
Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival continues this weekend with live concerts, education seminars and loads of Disney Character topiaries. The Spinners will perform Friday, Saturday and Sunday as part of the Flower Power Concert Series. Show times are 5:15, 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. at America Gardens Theatre. HGTV’s Camille Styles (Design Happens) will teach guests how to throw a simple garden parties during the HGTV Designer Presentation Series. Presentations are Friday through Sunday at noon and 3 p.m. in the Festival Center. Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is included with regular theme park admission and continues until May 20, 2012.

Downtown Food & Wine Fest @ Lake Eola Park
The Downtown Food and Wine Fest will be a “Treat for all the Senses” on Saturday, March 31st from noon until 9 p.m. and Sunday, April 1st from noon until 7 p.m. It will take place in Downtown Orlando around Lake Eola on Robinson Street. The festival will feature the area’s top restaurants with a variety of food with over 100 menu items, 14 wine stations serving over 50 wines from around the world, live entertainment on the Main Stage and live cooking demonstrations on The Chef’s Stage featuring local and national celebrity chefs. Upcoming Special Events
Several special events are right around the corner at the theme parks. These two are worth an extra trip to Orlando to experience:
• Viva La Musica will be held on Saturdays at SeaWorld and Sunday at Busch Gardens from April 14 until May 6. This event blends live performances from award-winning Latin artists with popular, regional Latin cuisine and authentic arts and crafts. (Viva La Musica is included with regular admission to SeaWorld and Busch Gardens.)
• Star Wars Weekends returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for four weekends beginning late May. Event dates are May 18-20, May 25-27, June 1-3 and June 8-10. The event celebrates the legendary Star Wars Saga and the animated television series, The Clone Wars. Highlights include a Character Processional through the park, Star Wars character meet and greets, Disney Characters in Star Wars themed outfits, autograph opportunities from Star Wars celebrities and much more. Star Wars Weekends is included with regular admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
