SeaWorld's Christmas CelebrationBy guest blogger Ashley Nichols of Theme Park Foodie

As the holiday season approaches, many families and would-be travelers are taking the time to plan their itineraries for what may be their only vacation of the year: a trip to Central Florida. These planners carefully arrange everything from transportation to accommodations, and must then make the difficult choice of deciding what attractions are worth their precious vacation hours. If this sounds like you, don’t worry — I’ve got a great recommendation! In this writer’s opinion, the holiday event that MUST NOT be missed is SeaWorld Orlando’s Christmas Celebration.

Why SeaWorld? There are nearly too many reasons to count, but I’ll give it a try.

SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration1) The Price

The additional cost of enjoying all of SeaWorld’s wonderful holiday offerings on top of the price of entry is exactly $0. That’s right; with the cost of admission, you get to enjoy all that the park has to offer for the holiday season. The same cannot be said for other Central Florida attractions.

SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration2) The Food

The SeaWorld culinary staff goes above and beyond for the holidays, bringing limited-edition food offerings to nearly every corner of the park. Guests can purchase the All Day Dining plan for $32.99 and then proceed to enjoy limited-edition holiday menu items available at the many of the quick-service restaurants in the park. Guests with a taste for finer fare can enjoy a special holiday menu at Shark’s Underwater Grill or meet the man in red himself at Santa’s Fireside Feast. For more specific information on the holiday food offerings, see below.

Seafire’s Turkey Stuffed Bread Bowl Holiday Special:
Slow-roasted turkey with mashed potatoes all topped with homemade gravy and sprinkled with cheddar cheese and served in a freshly baked sour dough bread bowl.

Voyager’s Smokehouse Holiday Dinner:
Traditional hand-carved slow roast turkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, topped with homemade gravy, garnished with cranberry chutney and a freshly baked dinner roll.

Spice Mill’s Knife-and-Fork Beef Brisket Holiday Special:
Slow-smoked beef brisket, hand-carved and piled high on Texas toast, smothered with homemade gravy and served with sweet potato French fries and cole slaw.

Shark’s Holiday Special Entrée & Dessert Combo:
Entrée: Osso Bucco, slow-cooked Pork Osso Bucco, delightfully tender served on a bed of cheddar cheese mashed potatoes. Topped with a red wine mushroom sauce.
Dessert: Chocolate Marquise

Christmas Market Walkway:
Enjoy a delicious half-pound steak burger, seasonal brews, hot cocoa, Godiva, fresh kettle corn and more.

SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration3) The Entertainment
Other parks may add one or two new entertainment offerings for the holiday season, but SeaWorld offers nine!

  • Wondrous Night, which premiered in 2011, is a musical journey through the “greatest story ever told.”
  • Shamu Miracles is a holiday celebration featuring live musical performances and everybody’s favorite whale!
  • Clyde and Seymour’s Countdown to Christmas is a laughter-filled adventure with SeaWorld’s silliest sea lion clowns.
  • Winter Wonderland on Ice, a breathtaking ice skating show, features a French gold medalist skater this year.
  • A Sesame Street Christmas is a favorite of children of all ages, as are the Waterfront Snow Flurries.
  • The Polar Express Experience invites Believers to take a wild train ride to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus.
  • Finally, it wouldn’t be a SeaWorld Christmas without Holiday Reflections, the park’s premiere holiday fireworks celebration, and the Sea of Trees, a holiday lights display that must be seen to be believed.

SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration4) The Decorations
SeaWorld is so devoted to the quality and quantity of their holiday decorations that they began constructing the Sea of Trees display before Halloween. Each year the park’s décor seems to outshine the prior year’s display. Every area of the park receives some type of holiday adornment; you can feel the holiday spirit everywhere you go. From giant Christmas trees to decorated palm trees, every part of the park is draped with holiday spirit.

For travelers hoping to use their time in Central Florida to celebrate the holidays, SeaWorld Orlando is a memorable and cost-effective choice that outshines any other Central Florida holiday event.
