Our Favorite SeaWorld Orlando Rides
Given that we’re a family of frogs, it’s easy to understand our affinity for SeaWorld, with its conservation message, environmental action and animal rescue efforts. And while we love the aquariums, exhibits and animal shows, SeaWorld’s thrill rides are truly one of a kind. With the opening of Antarctica on the horizon, Lily and I decided to make a list of our favorite SeaWorld rides.
Here are our favorite — along with my YouTube videos — and why.
1. TurtleTrek
This combination aquarium exhibit and 3-D attraction tops my list because it provides a realistic, immersive experience of underwater sea life. Guests get to experience the great big ocean — along with a few predators (who may be scary to younger kids!) — through the eyes of a green sea turtle named Nyah.
2. Manta
Hands down, the smoothest coaster we’ve experienced, Manta gives the feeling of gliding effortlessly through the air — much as a Manta ray moves through the water — only at speeds of up to 56 miles per hour! Guests ride face down with their backs toward the track, so they can take in the breath-taking views of the park as they encounter a number of inversions and a drop that has them seemingly skimming the surface of the lagoon below.
3. Journey to Atlantis
A perennial crowd pleaser, especially in the hot months, the park’s very first thrill ride is part roller coaster, part log flume and part dark ride. The drops aren’t too steep and you’re guaranteed to get wet — especially if you sit in the front row!
4. Ocean Commotion
My sister, Lily, loves SeaWorld because there is a whole section of the park geared toward young frogs — er, kids — just like her. The area itself features a gigantic, netted, four-story climbing space as well as an oversized splash pad. But she loves really loves Ocean Commotion. This rollicking boat ride has her swaying back and forth and whirling side to side.
5. Jazzie Jellies
This spinning tea cup ride has guests spinning up, up and up 30 feet into the air before coming back down again. Lily loves that she can control how fast her jelly cup spins, although she has been known to get a little dizzy (especially when her big brother is helping her do the spinning)!
