Parks News: Disney World, SeaWorld Gear Up for 4th of July Festivities

It’s time for the Frog Family’s weekly roundup of Disney and Orlando theme park tidbits from the interwebs.

We love comments! Drop us a line below if you have something to share.

This week’s highlights:

  • Fireworks at Magic KingdomWe’re less than a week away from the 4th of July, and many of the theme parks are planning extra special activities for the holiday, or in Disney’s case, the week. We listed a number of the festivities in our lookahead for the month of July, which also includes the best days of the month to visit and a TON of other useful information if you’re heading to the Orlando theme parks.

  • If you’re planning to catch “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” next week, our friends at Disney Tourist Blog have outlined the very best places to watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom.

  • SeaWorld Orlando, which will host a special fireworks show for the 4th, kicked off its Summer Nights extended hours, which run through Aug. 11. Guest will want to make sure to catch Sea Lions Tonite and Shamu Rocks, the latter of which features a brand new fireworks finale.

  • Armie HammerThe cast  of “The Lone Ranger” rode into Disney California Adventure for the world premiere of the film starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.

  • Just in time for the July 3 opening, “The Lone Ranger” merchandise also rolled into the parks. While Lily’s got her eye on Silver, Tad is, of course, looking at the LEGO sets.

  • Following on the news of MyMagic+  testing at the parks that began last week, Attractions Magazine took a look at the MagicBand button covers and slides.

  • Lava LoungeThe Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney has opened Lava Lounge, a first-come, first-served area that includes the full Rainforest Cafe menu plus its very own menu and this chocolate-eruption concoction. I know where we’re headed for dinner next time we’re at Downtown Disney!

  • Disney Every Day has given us a first look at the scrumptious new offerings for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, including the Banoffee Tart with Creamy Banana and Toffee from festival newcomer Scotland.
  • SupermoonThis week’s supermoon was even more spectacular over Spaceship: Earth.

  • The Orlando World Center Marriott, ranked by Forbes as one of 20 coolest hotel pools in the world, got even cooler with the addition of three new water slides. Tad has already suggested that we hop on over to check them out … and I am tempted, so long as we can stop over to the Lava Lounge for some Sparkling Volcano first!

That’s all for this week. Until next week, happy planning!
